Mechanical Design

We utilise 3D CAD modeling to develop concepts and understand how your product behaves / will be assembled in the real world.  This is the first critical step in developing conceptual designs and prototypes, leading to manufactured and assembled products.

Our team evaluates various materials and selects the appropriate materials for the intended environment and performance. Material selection is critical to the performance and intention of the product, this critical to the products durability, performance and sustainability.

Our design team has years of experience in design for manufacturing, we work with the client to understand the clients needs, product intention and amount of products required. All this information is critical to ensure the design product is as cost effective for the chosen method of manufacturing. For example if a client requested for a plastic part to be made the volume is important as it will determine what method should be used to manufacture, injection moulding, 3D printing, CNC, etc. If injection moulding was deemed suitable the number would also determine the tool cavity number and material resulting in a significant change in cost. 

All products are designed to minimise as much manufacturing time as possible. This results in a reduced part complexity, machine labour time and overall product cost. This also allows for seamless integration into a high volume production method such as injection moulding or stamping.

On-site 3D Printing

Currently we have 2 3D printers, these are mainly used for rapid prototype development. They assist in ensuring the product will work and assemble as intended. These 3D printers are able to print high temperature engineered materials such as Nylon, PC and ABS. This allows us to produce accurate prototypes in the expected design materials allowing us to evaluate NVH, clipping performance, part interaction etc. Providing clients with the opportunity to get a hands on experience with the produce and provide any feedback to improve the product.

External Manufacturing

With experience in the global automotive and manufacturing engineering field we have connections to various domestic and international suppliers. This means we can offer a range of manufacturing methods such as 3D printing, injection moulding (soft and hard tooling), laser cutting, CNC machining and a range of various additive and subtractive manufacturing.

For clients looking at manufacturing high volume, we connect the client to our domestic / international suppliers. This ensures the client has direct communication and can discuss any questions / concerns with the manufacturer directly.

Software Design

We believe software is the backbone of a well developed functional product, our team has knowledge in various programming languages such as C, C++, C#, React, Java and Matlab as well as experience with programming for various devices. 

Each product solution will vary in the level of complexity of software, this all depends on the clients product requirements. We work closely in the design stage to understand what the solution would like to implement, this may include bluetooth / wifi integration, touch screen to a simple LED indicator. The possibilities are endless but at AEP we contain the skills to bring that idea to reality.

App / Website Development and Standalone Software Engineering

AEP also provides these software services as a standalone option for App / Website development.
